Saving for Retirement

The Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) released their 2012 Retirement Confidence Survey.   The confidence results are located on their web site at http://www.ebri.org/pdf/surveys/rcs/2012/fs-05-rcs-12-fs5-gender.pdf.  The survey includes a portion comparing confidence by gender.  Both groups are saving for retirement at about the same portion.  One significant difference is that 12% fewer women have not done a retirement savings calculation.  Fortunately, there are many online calculators that can help those individuals who wish to estimate this amount.   A calculator that may be of interest is located on Bloomberg’s web site at http://www.bloomberg.com/personal-finance/calculators/retirement/.
